Speaker 2:Hi guys, it's Winter. Alex of the Manor Co. I love all things design.
Speaker 1:Hi, it's Icey Chabelle, costume designer and event producer and all around professional doc connector. I'm Mia Nunnally, costume designer and creative director. Hey, hey, hey, y'all, this is your girl, ziza Dunyani. I am assistant costume designer, ceo of Women Building Wealth Collective, one of the hosts of this beautiful podcast, and we are back for another episode in the new year of We8 Podcast. Today we are talking predictions for Golden Globes, wrapping up the year. A little bit of Cat Williams, because he is. This is Cat Williams Internet. If y'all didn't know, the last four days he has been on a rampage, but let's start off. You know, hey, ladies, how y'all doing Good.
Speaker 1:Good, y'all are right, I'm good I feel like I fell up in this building like, fell, like, trip Boop, I'm in the couch, wow.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 1:I think that's how I felt last episode. I feel good today.
Speaker 3:That is just wonderful. She said maybe it's the macaroon.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I think this bougie little cookie that really serves no purpose.
Speaker 2:Oreo cookie. It's a Oreo cookie.
Speaker 3:That makes sense.
Speaker 1:That makes sense. Y'all should watch Dream Scenario what's that on Amazon Prime. It's really good. It's kind of a I don't know that. You know, the slower movies kind of intrigue me, but it's about a guy who shows up in all these random people's dreams. I can just leave it there.
Speaker 2:That's not silver. Have y'all seen silver on Amazon?
Speaker 3:It's very similar. It sounds very, very similar.
Speaker 2:It's a group of friends who can hop in and out of each other's dreams.
Speaker 1:Basically it ends there, so maybe it's a prerequisite they got to let you in a dream or you can.
Speaker 2:Just it's a group of them and you gain access to this pack and they can feel who can accept the pack, whatever your energy is, and they tap into it and if you have that silver line then you can be a part of their pack to hop in and out.
Speaker 3:Yeah, what's the purpose?
Speaker 2:Well, it gets tricky because one of the girls is dark and she takes it to a psychotic place.
Speaker 1:You can't go over here in this dream or a state. Yeah, I'm staging my dreams gone.
Speaker 3:You're going to stage that.
Speaker 1:I'm going to stage that for someone. Yo stop very calm, I need a bat, no.
Speaker 2:I just have to say there is one scene where he I can't say something about the tub scene, Mm-mm.
Speaker 3:Girl, nah, and don't gul anything, because when I was watching it and I was like what the hell? And then I gul and it was all this stuff yeah.
Speaker 1:I'm actually about to say the final one.
Speaker 3:No no.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, that's wild too. Now I got to watch it because I'm like and then what happened? No, but the tub sits. Precedents of who we're dealing with.
Speaker 1:At that moment, you was like oh, but I thought he was doing that for different reasons.
Speaker 3:The tub scene, I thought that was because what was he doing? I want to know.
Speaker 1:No, no, no, no, just either. Do it for yourself, for the culture, what culture?
Speaker 3:Not culture, the artistic value, the artistic value. But it's.
Speaker 2:The lesbian culture.
Speaker 1:I don't know. It's an artistic thing. It's very. I'm surprised it's not in one of the runner-ups of the Golden Glove.
Speaker 3:No people have been trashing it. That's the only reason.
Speaker 1:I tuned in because it got horrible reviews, not because of the content, not because of the acting or the cinematography, it was just people leave with like, what the F did? I just watch what just happened?
Speaker 3:So because there was so much buzz around like yo this weird movie it probably wouldn't get in the running.
Speaker 1:So it's kind of like the Cat Williams effect of how Cat Williams has so much that video has like 22 million in three days that's wild Of him and shit. Let me show you. Let me show you. Wait 22 million views this is Cat In three days. Williams internet.
Speaker 2:You know how much money he's making.
Speaker 1:Beyonce, let him lease it for a little while. This is internet. I'm the only one that hasn't seen it, I'm sure. It's because people are If you have enough buzz around or enough controversy around your project, your interview, your movie, whatever people are going to tune in, just for the train wreck of it. So, I feel like salt burn. That's the only reason I was like why am I keep talking?
Speaker 3:about this train wreck.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and I feel like that's the same thing with Cat Williams, because people who don't care about comedy, cat Williams, football, shannon, none of that are tuned in.
Speaker 2:I've never watched the Shannon interview I have. I have.
Speaker 1:I like him at Ocha. I watch him and I like him, so I like their clips.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I do the clips. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1:But that's because Uncle Shannon don't be saying much.
Speaker 2:He just let them talk and be like well, how do you feel? I think somewhere in here, yeah, he has a list in his lap.
Speaker 1:He's like oh, he does that.
Speaker 2:First of all, he's too big to laugh like that.
Speaker 1:That's a big grown man. He is big.
Speaker 2:But wait, running back you'll be like he laughs like he does this and his sweatsuits are a tidbit tight. They look fitted. They have a country. I don't like that. I've got that more house of steady look. No, okay, let me just tell you Pet peeve over here. No man's sweatpants should hug their calves.
Speaker 3:Oh.
Speaker 2:That for me Get out of here.
Speaker 1:They have magings. Is it a magging or is it a swish hand?
Speaker 2:No, that sounds like pegging what you sent a man to it. No, magging.
Speaker 3:Men and leggings are magings. I don't wear that shit to the gym.
Speaker 1:Don't wear it to the gym.
Speaker 2:I'm saying, I'm saying layer it with the pair. You know how they might layer it. You know what I'm saying. Like your drafts. The Nike leggings.
Speaker 3:Or you know what I'm saying the underarm leg with the gym to the gym.
Speaker 1:Give me that all day long, but not no sweatpants. Yes, that's sexy, that's great, I'm gonna switch it. What's my flight jacket on With a hoodie in? Let's take some submissions.
Speaker 2:Anybody want to send in some photos, all you gotta go to is like Trayvon Deeks, you know, go look at them. Cute ass little ball players. Maybe body speed Together.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and know what to put on, and they dress very well, oh yes, they dress very well.
Speaker 2:One of them had on this fantastic wool suit and he did not wear a blazer. He had on the vest with the wide leg pleat front pants and just a t-shirt underneath. Baby Preston.
Speaker 3:He was fine, fine.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I saw that.
Speaker 2:I reposted it.
Speaker 1:In the stories. Blitz fit, blitz fit Good job to you guys.
Speaker 3:Shout out to Blitz Fit.
Speaker 2:Shout out to Blitz Fit. You guys are doing a great job. I enjoyed that paint.
Speaker 1:Where were they when we were designing the game?
Speaker 2:Right.
Speaker 1:Listen, probably just wasn't up on it at the time and also the game.
Speaker 2:We got so much fucking pushback for trying to make them fly.
Speaker 1:Listen, and whole time the rookies be the ones spend the most money.
Speaker 2:Be ready to fly Out the gate Because the old school I know my client, he was very, very till this day. Be like that's too much money.
Speaker 1:I did want to say okay, I'm going to fuck up your name. Okay, jamemia, the other one.
Speaker 2:Awusu. The one they said is the best dress, I love it.
Speaker 1:And the NFL. The boy is fly.
Speaker 2:Is this the one he wears his African garb? No, yes, that young man, that king Killing it, that boy is king energy Do you hear me?
Speaker 1:I love it. I love to see a picture. Here's a whole little situation, share him.
Speaker 2:He is fantastic. Do what you must and he look like a king, he looks chocolatey, he gives very much.
Speaker 1:So mensa, moosa, energy, say what you got to say Say what you got to say, Isa, because you know she good.
Speaker 2:And it's four of us. Hello, it's four of us on the same wave, this one right here, if he did this one right here she wouldn't be any other way. No, if he did this one right here, oh I man.
Speaker 1:What is the man married that's dating a girl? The red beard.
Speaker 2:The red head? Yeah, that man's name.
Speaker 1:He has the new um the show. Delroy Linda, y'all don't get this. Uh, delroy Linda, junior Girl man, there is nothing. Come on now. You know, delroy Linda, you on the new show with Carrie Washington, unpresent, or whatever. I mean every spiley uh five blood. This is his son.
Speaker 3:No, that is that man's son. You tell my dad, I mean, that's LeBron.
Speaker 1:James daddy, I think um, I think Kudos to him for um.
Speaker 2:let me see this man Reppin' his set.
Speaker 1:Girl, but it's nothing Beautiful.
Speaker 3:I mean everyone's beautiful. He's fine, yes, Like. And what does that man mean? He has a nice body.
Speaker 1:His body. And he's rubbing his skin His face, His his features.
Speaker 2:I find nothing else I can compliment about that? You don't like his features. You don't like any of his features His eyes, his nose, his lips, his cheekbones. Let's Google, let's.
Speaker 3:Google.
Speaker 2:How tall is this?
Speaker 1:man, he has, he's at least six three Is it? Too African, big enough to play in a hotel.
Speaker 2:Is it too African?
Speaker 1:No, I mean that's the thing you know sometimes you don't.
Speaker 3:No, I've seen beautiful.
Speaker 1:African men. Tell me what you think he is just not one of them.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I mean there's no shaking us Cut all this out, because we may shout at him out and then I'm a little like a hater. He don't do it.
Speaker 1:He don't do it Sound like a hater, well, but I mean, I think we need to be more. You know, choosy with what we're labeling, fine, and you know we are choosy these are our choices.
Speaker 2:We are choosy, these are our choices. These are our choices. We need to be a little bit more choosy. We need to be a little bit more choosy. These are our choices.
Speaker 3:If you don't know what you're talking about.
Speaker 2:I'm going to tell you these are our choices.
Speaker 1:If you have a limited amount of fine cards to hand out, are you handing you?
Speaker 2:still giving him one.
Speaker 1:Yeah, sure First of all who you giving one.
Speaker 2:You don't even think Idris is fine, I do not, it's like girl, he's somebody's own thing.
Speaker 1:You said it, man, Girl. But the things that get y'all don't get me like I don't need muscles. I don't need muscles. I don't need like I don't look at like a cock diesel dude and be like dang he fine we don't need muscles either.
Speaker 2:No, no Like some nice arms Also swag is an ink confidence and all of that is a 95% part of the deal. You don't have to say I'm going to give him that.
Speaker 3:He seems very confident because he's wearing that to work. He does have chain energy, for sure.
Speaker 1:You need to look like you take care of yourself Please and me.
Speaker 2:He looks very um very moisturized.
Speaker 1:Yes, he definitely needs a shea butter.
Speaker 2:And coconut oil.
Speaker 1:If I walk past him and hold his throat, you would look at him in the produce section Baby, I'll pull my sunglasses down.
Speaker 2:You mean like hello, yeah man. So we're like this.
Speaker 1:Well shit, I wanted to segue back into the golden globe, but it don't even feel right, Nova.
Speaker 2:What did you have to say?
Speaker 1:I just wanted to share a couple of chicks I thought would be cute. Oh I was definitely going to say Christina Ricci, she might bring it Okay.
Speaker 2:She's nominated for something.
Speaker 1:Uh yeah, Yellow jackets, although I could not really get into season two so much.
Speaker 3:I didn't like it as much as season one. Yeah, that was cool.
Speaker 1:I tapped out. I did not finish? I didn't know they was eating people. Ugh, they were going to swap.
Speaker 3:I mean that was a survival shit. More of the rings.
Speaker 1:Um, you eat a person. You, we talked about this. You're going to be a survival.
Speaker 3:Oh, y'all ain't eating somebody Me and Chris already talked about this.
Speaker 1:He said if he dies first, then I'll keep the plants. You've become hermable.
Speaker 2:Yes, I need to be hermable, her body is essentially made to digest plants, not meat, so you will be all right, I'm okay on that one, you're going to pass up some grass to munch on your little arm I don't know what grass is good grass, or you know non-psychedelic grass?
Speaker 1:Look, I know what a leg, thigh, breast and wing look like. People carry disease. People carry disease.
Speaker 3:What if it's my?
Speaker 1:husband, I know it all, he got it.
Speaker 3:Oh, when Chris comes up missing that job. No, if it's something like plane crash.
Speaker 1:I mean, I would eat a stranger too. Like I'll be a little bit more discerning about. Like baby, I love you. You don't look as healthy. You know, high fat content will probably be good.
Speaker 2:So no fish from the land. You wouldn't go to the land.
Speaker 1:You want to look like I can't fish. I'm going to be able to go out there with no pole, no bait, no nothing. You take a rock, oh, and I'm a. Okay, you take a rock, you beat the shit, or at least try. I'll be there, you bake them, you bake them. You bake them, they come in.
Speaker 2:You smash them. There is a freshly-inspired person there.
Speaker 3:I am going to use my human anatomy and physiology.
Speaker 2:And the apocalypse. We don't want it.
Speaker 1:We can't go kissing your kids in the apocalypse.
Speaker 2:The IZE house can't go over there to visit.
Speaker 1:You might be on the barf you menu.
Speaker 3:Y'all say that.
Speaker 2:You can't come to the bunker. You ain't never been that hungry before. You can't come to the bunker. I'm just going to say Some plants and trees.
Speaker 1:What if there's no plants and trees.
Speaker 3:What if?
Speaker 1:you're in a snow tundra, then I fish Just a little animal, right? No, but I won't let you out of the fight. I don't know Life is, you know, put this brush on.
Speaker 2:I had a good time. I'll see you later.
Speaker 1:Right, okay. So, speaking of trends, there's some projections for trends for the new year.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah and 2024. Let's say our trends.
Speaker 1:What do we project the forecast to be for 2024? First, and then we'll see what the people say.
Speaker 2:I don't think kitten hills are leaving. No, I think they're going to be bigger.
Speaker 1:Nipple hills. Nipple hills, I think, more bombastic shoes Period. Okay, I feel like people are gonna start are more interested in shoes that look crazy, just so they can get people talking. I think that's gonna be more of a thing too. I think 80s wear in general been having this conversation specifically like vintage. There's been like an increase in the amount of people who are doing vintage. Yeah, I'm seeing more thrift hauls on trending and it kinda gets it's so aggravating. I don't really know Just a little bit why? Because they're them girls.
Speaker 2:I don't know if it's because we like that's our hit, like our backstory, and we've put so much into it for so long. And to like, see it now and it's like, oh, look what I did in the thrift store, it's like, where'd you get that?
Speaker 1:Well, tell your, let's give a little history lesson on Addy here, rose and Wishin' Nigg-Me.
Speaker 2:Ginger and Betty, and that's Betty.
Speaker 1:And Betty, y'all give us a little backstory on your origin story for who you know, how y'all got into the vintage game and like to what capacity, cause our listeners don't really know. Well, I think when you are young in your early 20s, and you wanna look great and you don't have this much money, you realize very quick that that vintage I don't wanna call it vintage, let me just say thrifting and vintage is so important because you wanna kind of set yourself apart from everyone. So Winter and I met at a boutique in Virginia Highlands and she said I had on a vintage scarf and probably some other vintage and she had on something else vintage and back then every the girls would wear like the juicy coutures.
Speaker 2:And seven jeans. Seven jeans, like that was. That was your status quo of style. Yeah, true religion.
Speaker 3:And she didn't look like that.
Speaker 2:And I said she's my friend, We'd be friends.
Speaker 3:Or whatever.
Speaker 1:And so I think, what happens with the thrift stores? Okay so, anyway. So she started, poor Little Grinch Girl. I partnered up with her, and then we had this store for eight years and then we had two stores and we ended up getting a store called PLRG Co-op Poor Little Grinch Girl Co-op and then we started having people come in and kind of sell within our stores as well, we had vendors.
Speaker 2:We had vendors, it's so crazy, not to cut you off me Like how we was doing this as kids like you know, we were in our 20s like creating, building creating communities in like downtown historic college part where no one was coming for style and we like cultivated so people would come, and then now, like eons later, you see these kids doing it again and we like y'all have no. Like we were digging through rummage, like there were warehouses full of shit I got a staff infection from thrifting Like that's how deep it was for us.
Speaker 2:We were going to people's cribs Like we took a trip and drove to Alabama and Mia was like Honda Coop and we'll fill the bitch up with shit and come and sell it in the shop.
Speaker 1:That's how it goes.
Speaker 2:Like anywhere we could get our hands on it. It was just and it's the third I get so excited about it Cause like that's like really close to home. And that's like how we got to where we are today and you see these kids on TikTok, kind of look what I did and I made $1,500 in a month.
Speaker 1:Yep, but okay, I thought you would appreciate it.
Speaker 3:Yeah, why wouldn't? Why don't you like?
Speaker 1:because I so let me make sure I understand.
Speaker 2:I'm not gonna say I don't appreciate it, right, I do appreciate it. What gets to me is maybe they make it seem like it's. It's just so easy, so easy, so right. So right now, I don't know, I don't know.
Speaker 1:When y'all were doing it. It sounds like it was an error where there wasn't a social media component to it. And I feel like thrifting is something that you know has always been a thing for those who get it.
Speaker 3:And everybody can't thrift, cause you have to love thrifting. I love thrifting.
Speaker 1:That's actually all my 2024 goals is to get back into thrifting. But you have to have the patience, the eye, the all of that, and I have to go alone. I don't wanna go thrifting when nobody else is. I don't see that I'm ready to go. Let me go by myself so I can take my time and leave when I want. But what I was gonna say is, I think, with social media cause social media bastardizes a lot of things that are just like it makes it to you miss the process, it's not there and it becomes too trendy. So I was saying it from a gatekeeping standpoint of like I don't want everybody knowing my favorite spots, cause then I got all these little teeny boppers in here. Like you know, I'm not gonna be with them. What happened with Final Cut? You know that right.
Speaker 2:Tiktok. They ended up on Tiktok and it became so overly saturated they couldn't keep up with the domain and lost the like the genesis quad of the beautiful thing about it. So now we just lost the gym because, you know what I'm saying, and I speak to thrifting and not necessarily gatekeeping, but vintage and thrifting and finding like beautiful shit is already hard enough to find. So when you go in and then you oversaturate the market, it just takes like they're gonna take away a beauty, a gift.
Speaker 1:It becomes fast fashion when you're supposed to be. Thank you, yeah, and I would also say everyone doesn't have a good eye. They think they can thrift, but they can't really.
Speaker 3:Yeah, no, I mean, that sounds terrible.
Speaker 2:No, it's a real thing, Like it's for real. And if you look at some of these hauls, listen, I need the girl that they're like look what I found. Mm-hmm. They're like, it's true, yeah, I should.
Speaker 1:But I will also say thrifting is your thrifting to your own personal style and aesthetic too. So thrifting isn't one size fits all, because what they might be so excited as a find, you might be like that, but that's their thing, that's their style, that's their aesthetic.
Speaker 3:But I think that's the beauty of the thrift.
Speaker 1:I'm not that girl. For those who don't know, I don't like digging through the shits. I'm not. I will go online. I just never been my forte. Maybe when I was younger I didn't have the money. I would hit up little five points. I could do it, but now not really Right go Rama. But the jewel is not to just take things that somebody else has used, but to find something that was even specific and like outstanding when it was of the time.
Speaker 3:You know what I'm saying? I?
Speaker 1:feel like that is the beauty. That's the thing that I don't have the patience for, but that's the thing I appreciate when it comes to thrifting, like I'll go to a thrift store that's already done the thrift you know what. I'm saying. Everything in here is like one of one.
Speaker 2:It's already curated, so you would have came to us. Yes, I would have came to us Because we did the hard work for you.
Speaker 1:I would have came to y'all. I'm the second hand, you know, but like, just finding something that's been used before is not necessarily the that's not the creative like taste that you need.
Speaker 2:Because if you're going thrifting you're like oh, I found this great Zara top. It's not yeah, what the fuck? There's no story behind it. That's not what we're going thrifting for.
Speaker 1:We're talking about things from the 50s to 60s, 70s to 80s. Now it's like, oh, this is supposed to be vintage. I mean I feel like if you're, if you're thrifting like, oh, this Zara top that's a find if this like oh my God, I wanted this Zara top is sold out, I never got to buy it. And then I found this.
Speaker 1:Zara top, so that's what I'm saying Like, for me it's not. It's not like how old this item is or who made this item to designer, to brand or anything like that. It's like thrifting is such a personal process that, like that Zara top might be the highlight of somebody's year where you're like that's fast fashion, Like you know what I'm saying, but I think that's the difference with with me, winter is saying between, like you know, I like to go to thrift stores versus like I do this for real.
Speaker 1:I'm like thrift to curate these pieces, to find things that you wouldn't find normally on an average day I did the work versus like I upcycled you know what I'm saying?
Speaker 3:It's like a small differentiating thing.
Speaker 1:Yeah, because then I mean if you go to the thrift store there's going to be a hundred polyester 80. Secretary blouses. Thank you, that is, and then that's so when you're putting that on the Instagram and I know that every single one of us can go into Value Village on Moreland and find the same secretary blouse with the polyester material and the secretary blow in some ugly ass print, to me that's not thrifting. It's finding that special one that is all silk.
Speaker 2:That might have been 1950s, I don't know, or 19s, the USDA stamp on the side of the garment that lets you know, like this is a certified garment that was originated back in a decade that we'll never get again. Like that's the type of stuff that you let, oh okay.
Speaker 1:Yeah, some things could you go in for it's timeless.
Speaker 3:That showpiece is not for yeah, I can find a gold thrifting and find that secretary blow blouse.
Speaker 1:There's a hundred million of them.
Speaker 2:Little pussyboats. Ain't it very common, pussyboats, pussyboats? Yeah, that was really big.
Speaker 1:The polyester that was huge in the 80s yeah, but not to say the 80s but the 90s and early 2000s is really what's big right now, yeah, so I also think that what's real, and also the 40s. I think that the voluminous look is really big, like the big A-line skirts yes, that I think Prada, in their spring 2024 collection, did a whole bunch of like these big A-line skirts with like these little rosettes on them and like special pieces. I think we're gonna see a lot more skirts in general. Yeah, you know, when they're A-line or even just like a streamlined version or a mini skirt, we're gonna see a whole bunch of them. I think that's gonna happen with surgeons we might step out of. We might be stepping out of satins too, like the satin slip skirts moment.
Speaker 3:Oh yeah.
Speaker 2:I think we might be moving away from that to like a more thicker wool pleated Pleted you know what I'm saying Like, I have your Denim skirts were in the last year. Yeah, they came back on. It's definitely been something that's been something that's been happening.
Speaker 1:I think you can do the satin in the spring though.
Speaker 3:You know.
Speaker 1:I just don't think it'll be as everybody like. It'll move off trend and the people who still can style it and rock it are gonna do that. But then the people who are sticking to the you know fast fashions, the way the world is moving, they might move in a direction of a heavier. I think that and y'all you know tell me what you think about this. But with the trend of women in general, like the decline in BBLs and people going for more natural bodies, I think you're gonna see a shift in less. You know, just straight spandex looks you know Less naked, more clothes.
Speaker 1:Yeah, more clothes, more style. I think that you're gonna see a decline. I do. I think it may take a little time, but I think you'll start to see a decline because it's not gonna be this call for. Oh, I've gotta show everything off. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, I do challenge those women to be a little bit creative, style wise, even if you are Naturally curvy, or pay for to get it curvy.
Speaker 1:You know, switch it up a bit. Yeah, I think I'll see the sheer. I don't think that's gonna go away, but I definitely see sheer that's a layered more. I think we will see a lot more layered sheer, meaning like if.
Speaker 2:I.
Speaker 1:Like a nice pair, not like a vintage jean. Like a dinner and put a nice sheer. Cuz remember in the early 2000s Maybe not you, but like a dread not to call you out but you know like you know how they used to do the dress over.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I think we're gonna see that.
Speaker 1:But a more refined, maybe a dinner, a gene with like a slip dress that has a Slippery all the way so you can see the jean. It's gonna be the layering, it's like the sheer or maybe something underneath.
Speaker 2:Similar to the girl. When we did like one of these first, when our first episodes, remember the subway girl, subway girl similar to her, but just not as outlandish.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:I keep a lace skirt in my wardrobe that I have had since I Don't know, 2002, like the early 2000. I think it was like one of the first pieces I got from design archives and I, when you said that, lace over the jeans, I have a photo of me in jeans that lace skirt that I wore as a top and Built it and turned into a pebble in moment that was.
Speaker 3:Remember you know saying that will forever live, it's all.
Speaker 2:I've also wanted a skirt like still like that before ever live.
Speaker 1:And you can go to the thrift store and go to the lingerie section and find these long, beautiful gowns that they, you know, you may see 80s, 90s or whatever, but these long, beautiful, light negligee's, but like a gown, and then maybe get a slit and then maybe throw on some, I say jeans, or pair Pants or a trouser.
Speaker 3:Yeah, you know, and make it and play around with it.
Speaker 1:So, larry, I mean, and maybe throw your fur both fur over it, or and go out because it's cold. That's like you were trying to figure out how to stay cute While it's cold outside. So I think the challenge is a very big deal.
Speaker 3:I think that's over it.
Speaker 1:That's probably one of the things we're talking about, like spursing things up in your closet for like the everyday I've been having this, like I don't have time, so even looking in my closet, I just think of I, I would like think about things to put on top of things, and then I'll just like test dummy it in my hallway, walk back and forth today.
Speaker 2:I ain't listening to myself, but that's not always go at your, always go at your first thought and don't just be asked.
Speaker 1:Don't just be asking people, she's okay, ask the people who know. Because what I did this morning? I dreamed about a look. I had these camo, like vintage camo pants or whatever. They're like raggedy, but my favorite. And I was like, okay, I'm gonna wear these cute pink boots and I'm have this blue jacket on and I'm gonna, you know, layer it up, do whatever. And then I asked my homegirls. I was like you know I'm rushing, so I just like need a little bit more insight. I'm like what do you think? Should I wear these pink or shall I wear these blue? They're like you should just do the blue. And I put the blue on, hated the blue with the cargo, took the cargoes off, put my favorite jeans on, got in the car, was like what a fuck I ain't listening to myself.
Speaker 3:I know what the fuck I'm talking about.
Speaker 1:Yeah yeah, I'm just sitting, what you know you gotta sit in what you know, have to sit in what you know and what works for you. Yeah, and what work for you.
Speaker 2:I think that's another thing about those trends like, even though we're discussing trends, please stay true to you. Yes, you understand like our high-signal society said that bucket hats are going to be gone. Those date back to the 1920s. That originated as Clio's hat, crochet hat. That's not going to wear. Yeah, you understand. The shape in the back may change with that brim coming over or how we wear it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, no, I hear you might change.
Speaker 2:Yeah, no way.
Speaker 1:But what are we gonna say? Let's talk about this 2024 trend by glamour magazine.
Speaker 2:We want to talk about these torches. We were, but we know these are y'all's projection. These are oh, now we're going to the actual projection oh, okay, so girl core.
Speaker 1:Girl core is just all the roses, all the ribbons, just dainty, feminine, like um, everything was covered in bows, or everything is going to be covered in bows, and rosettes and ribbons and ruffles, and just like. That Was a wee podcast prediction, but okay, no, for real.
Speaker 3:On instagram.
Speaker 1:We're talking about bows and ribbons, or oversized bows. That was that started last year, the big oversized bows on everything. Okay, let me just get through this list real quick. Um, this one they did just in honor of me, sequined everything Sequel, and it's not just for New Year's Eve, it is for everything. Um, which I'm telling down my sequins, but you know they still anyway, uh, sequined everything prep school. And what's interesting and I'll be brief on this is that like what the kids, the younger, like the teeny bobbers, what they think is considered prep is not what we thought was prep, because it's a whole nothing tops and shit in this.
Speaker 3:The difference. Yeah, we don't have to. I'm let me speak through this list. Okay, so the prep school.
Speaker 1:We're looking at like um polo shirts, academic blazers, outdoorsy sandals, stripe button downs, um, I think maybe well exciting that sounds like basic, yeah, non-basic basic.
Speaker 1:So this is a quote I believe we'll move into an 80s to 90s, look somewhat adjacent to quiet luxury. So that's what non basic basics is. It's kind of like what we kind of been saying quiet luxury. Um, it's going to be like your high rise, like relaxed jeans. It's going to be like you know your basic t-shirts, your cottons, your ribs, your things like that, moving along c-suite chic, um, which is, you know your executive, your power suit woman, your um, you know office ready dress, you know things like that. A lot of tailoring, all those things. No, sheer layering, which Mia touched on. I didn't want to interrupt you but, yep, that's the thing for 2024 and I feel like we saw something that in 2023 with, like, the sheer, the lace skirts and different things like that. Um, there's also that I had this shirt. I'm pretty sure I had this shirt in a 999 in the 2000s, like your sheer blouses with the cammy underneath and things like that.
Speaker 3:We're gonna see more.
Speaker 1:I'm gonna see more of that. Extra large bags um, extra large bags are going to make a comeback shoulder bags large bags in like tote style, or just exaggerated bags like different styles.
Speaker 3:But I mean they run away, but then well, I think, they've started exaggerating the clutch.
Speaker 1:They've just started turning these totes into like clutch moments, like not using the handle.
Speaker 3:Like on the runway last year. I've never been a big bad girl that carrying that big ass bag with no handle no fucking handle.
Speaker 1:First of all, back, lady um, 80s excess. I think someone mentioned this, but we're gonna see. Like you know, the, the, the oversized shades, big blazers, shoulder pads a little bit coming back into play. Um, think Moschino, think um Louis Vuitton's ode to material girls and this is where the article lost all credibility for me is kitten hills. Kitten hills are going to be a 2024 staple. Um, I don't believe it. I don't. I just I'm not a target audience. But, yeah, I agree, there's nothing that a kitten hill can do for me. I did that trend and we talked about this when we talked about, like college, what we were in college, and I did it then. But I'm not coming back to it because I felt like then I was playing around with different trends and trying different things. But that ain't for me.
Speaker 2:You should probably be of a certain height, to be of a certain height and even if you aren't a certain height.
Speaker 1:Maybe you're like a slim petite.
Speaker 2:I'm, you know I'm a little curvy, so it just I feel like it's gonna yeah this is what we mean when we say dress for you, do lots of trends there's for you.
Speaker 1:That ain't the trend for me, I got a pair. And we got two more y'all on this list shades of greens. So y'all know how red was the color for 2023 and red was All red was everywhere and of all slippers not even so. Now I love green greens are gonna have a big moment this year. Is it a specific type of all, shades All shades of green, like in a monochromatic. Or shades worn together like a. I don't know, like a kelly green shift, one with a sheer chartreuse.
Speaker 3:Is that what it is?
Speaker 1:I don't know, oh, not sure.
Speaker 3:I don't like this this last and final one.
Speaker 1:I'm, I'm. I don't know who wrote it for this, but um who? It is a girl caprice. Yeah, that was on my list. My list is right there in the phone in the phone but that was on my list. Yeah, I don't with the mule Mm-hmm, I actually had a couple I kind of want them to come back. I ain't had a pair, even a long time.
Speaker 2:When I was 12. I think you got to be a certain type of priest. It is to hit it to where it's supposed to be done now.
Speaker 1:Give them a girl. With my girl, help her.
Speaker 3:I'll just remember, or it has to.
Speaker 1:Yeah right everything ain't for everybody type of moment.
Speaker 3:But she, she's an example they showing no, that's not a good example, but I like, though?
Speaker 1:I like that style, like the skinny with the little slit on the side.
Speaker 3:Those are the ones that I'm thinking back to middle school.
Speaker 1:I've talked to some In my mind like I think she's down. I used to have some. I was calling them petal pushers.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I call them petal pushers. That's what I call them. Every kind of caprice From the 50s and 60s they do, and they used to wear them to the beach.
Speaker 1:Yeah, they were a leisure pant, yeah, I talked to one of my designer friends and he was talking about how he was like I'm gonna incorporate into a couple of my next uh drops drops some caprice. Yeah, I mean you can't now, you almost have to. In my opinion, you have to wear like a tall mule or something.
Speaker 3:It cannot, and you also have to be very streamlined.
Speaker 1:I think yeah it's your proportion.
Speaker 2:You have to be in a Remember Gidget. No or those blonde girl.
Speaker 1:Are those a little or the little soft samba's, not the big ones. But which I mean like the little, like like these little.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Those.
Speaker 3:So also, along with legging, along with the petal pushers and caprice leggings, which I think leggings have Ever yeah.
Speaker 2:It's not a trend.
Speaker 1:More wider lay, straight lay silhouettes were um, let me see the shades of green. I said shades of green together. Okay, all right. Yeah, I don't know if I necessarily like this list all the way. I feel like the first three was bullshit. They just renamed some shit that's already been happening, but I love we.
Speaker 2:Huh, no, this has been a whole explosion. Is like, what is it?
Speaker 3:They just came up with this. She's a really shi girlish and bows and ribbons and rosettes.
Speaker 1:So they put core on a buck on the back of everything in 2023. That's a word trend that I wish you would retire like mermaid core, barbie core.
Speaker 3:Girl core like they would, just I don't know.
Speaker 1:I did hear grunge core some action yeah, okay, and bloke core.
Speaker 2:Look yeah.
Speaker 1:I was telling you about bloke.
Speaker 2:What big.
Speaker 1:That's like the dresses with like the darker jerseys yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. Oh, I think I'm gonna take a couple of these and and for the next episode, I think I'm gonna try to Girl cry some of these.
Speaker 3:You should tell me, do some. I'm gonna do the sequined and I'm gonna do.
Speaker 1:Someone should do prep school.
Speaker 2:Someone should do prep school if I do prayer, I'm do prayer. Why do you pray? Yeah, the way should be done.
Speaker 1:Oh, like what you wanted dinner the last dinner.
Speaker 3:That was great. That was really cute for prep team. That was great. Yeah, winter you do prep very well.
Speaker 1:Very well, I'm gonna do the sheer layering.
Speaker 3:I'll show you how to do it.
Speaker 1:I don't wanna do it. Eighty's, eighty's excess.
Speaker 2:We're grossed, it, we should have?
Speaker 1:I just thought about the time commitment.
Speaker 2:I don't want the responsibility of the commitment. No, I can't even get my day.
Speaker 1:The list is in the group chat for those who want to participate.
Speaker 2:But I want to challenge myself to try a little bit. Send us yours. How about that? Yeah, we get some participation.
Speaker 1:Yeah, let us know, let us know, yeah, let us know. Send it what your trends are. Take a picture I think there's a lot of trends, it's just that word is terrible. Yeah, it is, because everything just cycles right back and it's not really. That's why I don't think trend is a good word.
Speaker 1:No, because it's really not trendy, like I don't really see things here that aren't like throwbacks to something we've already done before. So I'm like is there really a trend or is it just like what we're highlighting? As like, I think it's what we're highlighting.
Speaker 3:Because really.
Speaker 1:I mean, who knows? You know what I do, I look at what's happening.
Speaker 3:What happened with the decade that?
Speaker 1:we're doing now is the 90s and the early 2000s, so I'll go on. Our trusted Pinterest and. I start looking at like catalogs from like J crew in the 90s. Okay, united colors of.
Speaker 3:Benetton in the 90s.
Speaker 1:What previous designers their runway shows in the early 2000s. And then that right there is what I see with the trends are trending towards here, because it's all going to cycle right back, cycles back. So I was looking at some articles because it, and then also my mother, I look at her and what she was doing in the 90s and she was doing like a lot of these, like wool long skirts with the oversized sweaters or blazers. It's very equestrian core, yeah.
Speaker 1:It was, and then she was also, you know, queen Nubia, yes, so she was doing the nice little necklaces.
Speaker 3:She had the natural box or whatever.
Speaker 1:Really she went through that stage in the 90s, those photos of what that decade is trending now Like you said the 80s and the late 80s, early 90s, and then she was doing the same thing. So I'm really excited. I'm looking at the trend. I'm looking at the trend. What is what? Is trending now.
Speaker 1:Like you, said the 80s and the late 80s, early 90s to the 2000s is trending. Yes, so I look. I want to see how that goes. Yeah, I'm interested. That's a very good take to like. Look back at like your mother specifically because you have a direct connection, you learn a lot of things about style and how you want to put them together.
Speaker 2:It depends on the mother. Yeah, yeah, but it's just what she. She's a southern lady. She dressed you. She's a southern, she's from Philly, oh I was.
Speaker 1:She's a person. I thought so, I thought so yeah.
Speaker 3:Well, maybe she forwarded everything she had into me, because, honey.
Speaker 1:I mean, or maybe it was before you that she was like him and you know you just she was like. I'll give it to you. That could be it, I don't know. But I look at old pictures of Monique and I feel like that's my mommy all.
Speaker 2:That's how.
Speaker 1:I feel like the way she was like big, oversized graphic tees and like Levi. She was very like, you know, Like cotton pepper, Very me, and I'm starting to see it now because I eat these jeans y'all. I wear these jeans at least once a week. They're my favorite. They're like men's Levi's that I bought secondhand what is the proper terminology if I bought it from a vintage store?
Speaker 3:But I'm not a shopper, I'm not a thrifter.
Speaker 1:You know what I'm saying? Vintage, ok Well, I bought them vintage and I love them. They're men's jeans. I wear them all the time, baggy short, trying to be sexy. But it reminds me when I look at old pictures of my mom. That was her.
Speaker 2:Yeah, my father had found a whole school of photos of him and my mother and I was like I am her.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I am her all day.
Speaker 2:And we'll catch up. Like when I was at home, sometimes our eyes view on the same wavelength. Now it's born totally different. Yeah, but we'll be the ones with the same color on Very understated. But she may have on these little ride boots and her jeans might be a little tighter than what they should be.
Speaker 3:Look, hey, it works. Yeah, my mama, she getting on it. You know what I'm saying. She's showing them hips. You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 2:But I was like damn, so I can totally relate to that yeah.
Speaker 1:I think that's such a dope transition Because you learn a lot of things from your parents. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1:Your confidence, your energy, even if you're not the same. Like my boyfriend likes to say, my mama dressed in shapes. I don't really dress in shapes. That's not really my thing. She always got a funky shape on Me. I like to keep it simple, but when I look at what she was wearing back in the day it's very similar to how I feel comfortable or how I feel I like loose. I like it to be. I don't want to be too hot to try and I find sexy and not too hot to try. Put me a cute little panty on under some baggy jeans and I'll be like oh yeah.
Speaker 3:I'm that girl. It's real sexy. I'm saying a cute little panty.
Speaker 1:Oh, you just know it's there. I know it's there.
Speaker 2:It's a change of day. Anybody not got to see it. I want to say I am a very, as you guys can see, I love anything that's understated and oversized, but underneath it is a bit of sex appeal that always exists.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and I think I don't even know. I get panties that I'm wearing.
Speaker 2:I get more hey, what's up when I'm in sweats and tees than when I'm all dolled up. They can smell it. I'm like damn it. We went somewhere where we go to the orchestra and I was looking 1,000% like B, not a one. Next day I go to the car wash. Went something here. Coming in I got a nigga named Carl. Well, no more, babe, no more. But there was a man named Carl Wash, because he was in the sweats.
Speaker 3:Oh, Carl Wash.
Speaker 1:He was about to go to the ice. Oh he was. He was Nice, though he was in the sweats.
Speaker 3:I mean he was cool.
Speaker 2:That's when I was singing. You go on dates, you go see what's up. Go get dinner Not to be my partner. Yeah, go, carl Wash, he's a little taller.
Speaker 1:Ok, yeah, right here A little taller than me, but y'all know what panties y'all got on.
Speaker 3:Yeah, yeah mine was pretty intentional. This pants, I'm out to drain.
Speaker 1:You do all this on the outside. She be in full sequence and some Target cotton.
Speaker 3:She got primal in it. Fruit of the lawn no fruit of the lawn.
Speaker 1:Ooh, no, ma'am. No, but I do. I don't know. I have to go back there. So I need to edit to close out last year or not.
Speaker 1:I didn't close out last year, but I do. I'm looking at my closet. I'm like I need to edit, I need to purge. I'm trying to do that across the board in my house, like we don't need any more promotional items. Chris, please get them all out the house. We don't need no more promotional cups, nothing from Amazon or UPS water bottles. Like, please, get rid of all of these things.
Speaker 3:You're telling them to do that. I just do yes.
Speaker 1:Well, no because he's like a coffee cup guy. That's my favorite water bottles. I said pick out three, you can keep three. The rest of these 27 of them. They need to go. Like we don't need that promotional t-shirts yeah, they're good to sleep in or whatever but I don't need like from a production I worked on nine years ago, so I got t-shirts All them right gift shirts, we get them things.
Speaker 3:All those things, I need to edit them, I need to edit them Themselves.
Speaker 2:Yeah, name one of them and everything else From Fort Better or what.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that's my favorite tea. I gave mine to my great-grandma. Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 2:She be like Tyler Perry let me go and see this little thing. We're lunch box.
Speaker 3:But I didn't do that with my underwear too, because I did curate my underwear drawer.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I don't care about my underwear. See, I don't care about my underwear because I don't care about it. No, I don't care about your drawers.
Speaker 2:They not cute. You said they were cute, they are, so I. They weren't cute. I tapped out, but they're all none of them.
Speaker 1:They're all mostly black, and that's a smart thing to do.
Speaker 2:All my underwear are gray, oh gray. Yeah, I do that.
Speaker 3:I love gray underwear.
Speaker 2:I love underwear, all my underwear are gray.
Speaker 1:I saw you, the girl that's doing that. Yeah, I was like who's doing all these colors?
Speaker 2:I love bright color panties. What color I knew that.
Speaker 1:She just said it. All her colors are bright yeah.
Speaker 2:I like all my green. Oh, you mean when you're shopping and you see those colors, or?
Speaker 1:in the stores. Yeah, it was buying. Yeah, yeah, I literally.
Speaker 2:I always have gray underwear.
Speaker 1:But I don't wear a lot of bright colors on my body, so like so it's your little happy secret? Yeah, it's like super pink and frilly and then like I don't know, but y'all do that thing that's trending, and put your man's name on some underwear. No, no, that's not. I'm grown as fuck. I'm not doing that. It's the name on my panties, for Well, like, just write it in no, no.
Speaker 2:It's the whole like monogram, like you would do for your gold necklace.
Speaker 1:I see me girls illiterate anyway, they ain't about to read that they don't give a shit. His name is on some people, it ain't these panties OK.
Speaker 2:Right, take that, take that. So I just bought a skirt like this from Michelle.
Speaker 3:I bought it from the last sale.
Speaker 2:I bought a wool A-line skirt from her.
Speaker 1:Yo, let me tell y'all Just like this, that man or coach pop him shop be hitting. Ok, it's one chick who comes with the vintage stuff, Michelle A vintage affair, oh my god, I was looking at myself. So Michelle has always had beautiful stuff.
Speaker 2:Like first she started as a client. She was shopping with us so much and then, when we gave the opportunity for people to come in and sell, she was one of our first vendors Always did well and we didn't know.
Speaker 1:But even when it was just pop ups that poor little rich girl, she was definitely one of the one. Yeah. And then we know she had that good shit, though she did.
Speaker 2:Yeah, she started bringing that shit to her. And what was? The crazy ass, mary.
Speaker 1:I hope Mary's not listening.
Speaker 2:Yeah, Mary was a wild girl. Mary, you are a wild girl, but we love you OK.
Speaker 1:That was another girl. She was cute. She reminded me of one of my friend's mother. She always I don't remember her name, but she always wore really good shades. She was an accessories girl. God, I feel like she was from Philly or up North. She was from somewhere. It wasn't Trini God.
Speaker 2:I don't know, she was in our shop.
Speaker 1:She did a couple of trunk shows like a little pop up. One time, Jasmine.
Speaker 2:Jasmine. No, because Jasmine was a vendor. She was with us, I don't know.
Speaker 3:I don't know.
Speaker 1:Either way, that shit was hitting, I was like this is what I like, this is what I like. Every single piece hits and you just find what you need. We got another one coming up in February.
Speaker 2:In February. You know what I'm saying Keep a lookout.
Speaker 1:I do want to say Asheville. For people like me, Asheville had the best, like vintage shops.
Speaker 3:I was like I found all my favorite. I want to go there.
Speaker 1:I haven't been, I've been in a shop shop.
Speaker 3:Can you know where Appalachian State?
Speaker 1:is To design our cars in Greensboro, North Carolina and Winston-Staling too. We love you, kid.
Speaker 2:We love you, kid and Danita she the one who put me on.
Speaker 1:Oh, Danita, she was a black girl. She used to work out there. It was like oh, this is a safe space because you walked in on this beautiful ass.
Speaker 2:Brown girl with these big lips.
Speaker 1:She was so pretty.
Speaker 2:So pretty. And then you heard a kid, a little white lady up there.
Speaker 1:Danita the girls that have breast cancer. Jesus Christ.
Speaker 2:The dogs have breast cancer.
Speaker 3:Yeah, it was loud and they're teeth this wasn't expected man, but yeah, she talked about it Asheville, North Carolina, and.
Speaker 1:Savannah got good thrift ninty.
Speaker 3:Oh yes, they do Vintage shops not thrifting.
Speaker 1:So though, escad has come up, then the thrifting has come up. So there's one by escad it's like so there's this really big open park and I don't know.
Speaker 3:It's across the street by the CBS, not the rim parks.
Speaker 1:I just know that this is the foresight part.
Speaker 2:A vintage store.
Speaker 1:That's the Savannah foresight part, and I bought my rabbit fur coat from there. It's vintage every pita has vintage. Hmm. Well, apparently, if you were a pita, you probably would have to wear your fur coat. It's the same thing.
Speaker 3:It's the same thing. It's the same thing.
Speaker 1:It's the same thing, yeah.
Speaker 3:I don't know.
Speaker 1:We're gonna have to use that.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 1:I don't know, I don't know, I don't know. I don't know, I don't know I don't know, I don't know, I don't know. So who is this?
Speaker 2:guy. He's a man, is he just like that boy? Due to that judge, I'll be flying to you.
Speaker 1:Bless it. He was having a bad day. He was having a bad day. He was there for a battery.
Speaker 3:He was great.
Speaker 1:He was like I've been doing good, I ain't come in, and no crimes.
Speaker 3:Look you.
Speaker 2:Mental illness is real. Yeah, mental illness is real.
Speaker 1:I know we laughed about it. She's right to lock him down, yeah, but that young man is suffering. You don't know what kind of traumas and obviously he's been through some trauma.
Speaker 2:She triggered something, listen.
Speaker 1:Y'all think that Cat Williams was triggered.
Speaker 3:I feel like that he always Cat. He gives Shannon a chance to talk.
Speaker 2:Oh Rip, he said how you doing. I just want you to know. I came here to clear up everything that my mother is saying. How about that, heiratez? Bitch out. I feel like he does that though every time, he didn't, stop, he didn't stop.
Speaker 1:I said I feel like he always comes in and he going to have some shit to say, but this time was just on all he said I'm just finna, let this motherfucker read.
Speaker 2:But what's funny is as everything he's saying, all the facts, are cut like check it in.
Speaker 1:People are finding the truth, you know for sure. She's hiking at 13 is wild. I just want to say what, wait, what?
Speaker 2:Ran away from home. Ran away from home and reading a lot of books 3000. 3000. Yeah, about an age of three.
Speaker 3:So I'm not about an age of three. He said about an age of three.
Speaker 2:I don't know.
Speaker 1:He said like five, six. He was reading like 3000 books of that yeah it was something a little outlandish. I'm here, so I will say this I am a Cat Williams fan. And not just of his comedy, but I worked on a project with him and he was hands down in my top five professionals I've ever worked with. He is in my personal top five and I've been doing this for about 11, 12 years, that's good to know.
Speaker 1:I wish you thought the only person to say that yeah, you're not the only person to say that, no, he came in there and was super because I came in at like that's about to be a bleep show. Because you know of my own perception of who he was and you know, fighting kids and all that, I was like man. We're going to be delayed.
Speaker 3:He's going to not show up, he's going to be all these things.
Speaker 1:And when I tell you he was new, his lines, he was professional, he was on time, he was uber generous. He would always do little kind things for the crew and hide his hand Like he didn't want anyone to know that it was him that's something he said.
Speaker 3:We would come up to him like these things. I don't know what you're talking about Like he was just super humble.
Speaker 1:And he knew his stuff, like he would be telling scripty like, excuse me, that cup was over here in the last take and now it's over here Cause someone moved back over here and I said oh, you know your stuff Like you really so I was so impressed by him. I think that everything he said. He doesn't speak out often, so when he does speak, he's going to let it go.
Speaker 1:He going to let it go and I and one thing and maybe it struck a personal chord with me is like you can't let liars rewrite history. And if you come in here trying to say, take credit for something I did or trying to say no, no, no, I'm going to set it straight and I'm going to check you, Cause he lightly checked Shannon for like for allowing a place for them to come up in here Comfortably.
Speaker 2:He said that's why I'm here, because you going to let the truth be heard, yeah. Like you boys, come up here and say whatever they want to say Now let me tell my side, okay.
Speaker 1:So I think that he might embellish personal things that we can't that chip Kat we don't know if you read 3000 books, but I think anything that he said, where he pointed to a specific individual and said that he knows they already want to fat check and call him a lie and everything so I believe everything that he said has some truth in it, a merit, because he knows that people are going to try to rip apart and see the truth, but that's what's been happening.
Speaker 1:Everybody's either been validated or they won't disvalue, they won't invalidate. They won't say he's lying, They'll just. Like you know, Ludacris did a little remix freestyle.
Speaker 3:I was like what the fuck is this? What's that?
Speaker 1:What did you say?
Speaker 2:about.
Speaker 1:Ludacris.
Speaker 2:Oh the light skin.
Speaker 1:wife with the weird face, Yo with the weird face to be out. Okay, yeah, took me out.
Speaker 3:But it wasn't just that, though. Right, it was all me. No, that's what they get when you're successful.
Speaker 1:You get a light skin, light eye with a weird face.
Speaker 2:That's exactly what he said and you know when he said, the clip ran where Kevin was saying like he fucked up his opportunity. So don't be mad at him that now that Kevin had taken his place, but the fact and he said it because he came late to this, everything that you just confirmed that he didn't do. Kevin was just like, was on the breakfast boys, whatever, saying the exact opposite.
Speaker 1:But the thing is, I've heard so many people who've worked with Cat Williams in the film industry say the exact same thing.
Speaker 2:They were so surprised by professionalism In me for an alligator man on Atlanta and he played the.
Speaker 3:we all seen that one right, and that shows that he has range though, too, because he's got range.
Speaker 1:He could do non-comedic roles. Yeah, that's when he was on the trying charts.
Speaker 3:No, that's when he had to get to his house.
Speaker 1:He was like had this big ass gold ass pistol. When they said this is him running that 4-2, he was running that street. Like I said, I love people. He was how Cameraman couldn't catch everybody.
Speaker 2:That was one of the best episodes. They was like is there really an alligator in there?
Speaker 1:Them kids was like yes, you didn't bring that show back Because it just needs to keep coming Donald's on the Mr and Mrs Smith with some Asian girl. Oh OK. You know what's interesting Is that part not Greta Lee, is she? No, it's not that.
Speaker 2:She said I would like it if it was Greta Lee.
Speaker 1:I was confused by the Mr and Mrs Smith Donald Glover reference or whatever, Because one thing they had for the original was chemistry and what my sister told me she was like, you know, Donald Glover, kind of fun and perfect. I've been saying it, I've been saying it and y'all thought he was corny.
Speaker 3:OK, so I work with him.
Speaker 1:I'm still in Atlanta and I'm a say no. No Because you like the dude, Dick Embey, who we just shown on the Thing. That is not his name.
Speaker 2:I think Donald has an artistic cute Like LaKeith.
Speaker 1:I would put them in the same. I would do Donald over LaKeith. He's like what's the menelique, what's the dude to Andy's husband? It's y'all like who Mendice? Oh, Mendice the menelique, you think.
Speaker 2:Donald and Mendice is in the same. To me they look like menelique. No, no, no, no, I do Mendice and Poison?
Speaker 1:I don't.
Speaker 3:OK, I'm a little small. No, no, no, no, I don't OK. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 1:Mendice and Donald, as a fan of both Mendice and here, yeah, and Donald is here.
Speaker 2:Mendice, fine, yeah, he real fine. I'm sorry, no disrespect Andy. No, andy, no disrespect, because that's your man. No disrespect, that's your man. He fine she know that man?
Speaker 1:fine, and he got that zh. Oh, he chill, he look like he on.
Speaker 2:Talkalov. No, he cool as a fan.
Speaker 1:He just yeah, Cool as a fan.
Speaker 3:We like that, we like that, we love that. Dick energy, I can't say that.
Speaker 1:Ok, well, me now that's when it got disrespectful.
Speaker 3:No, disrespect, you can't say no.
Speaker 2:Don't watch that Respectfully. That makes it OK.
Speaker 3:No disrespect, respectfully, he's fine yeah.
Speaker 1:That joint is. But no, I see Donald Glover being suave in that role, like I could see him, like you know. So wait, so wait. What's happening, girl? This is America, that's still my jam. I love it, I love it. So I'm behind. They're remaking, mr Mrs Smith, yeah, so it's a redo.
Speaker 2:It comes out this month, I think. Thank God it ain't going to take. It's a TV show on Amazon Prime. It's a series.
Speaker 3:They turn it into a series.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so is it a completely different storyline and they're just keeping the same, because I just think of Brad Pitt and Angelina.
Speaker 2:So if you're going to replace Angelina, that was a good vibe. And they were married. Yes, they were not married. No, they were married to other people.
Speaker 3:That is how they became one.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that chemistry will fucking around.
Speaker 3:In the trailer no I don't know this.
Speaker 2:She don't know this kind of shit. I haven't seen Angelina in a while. She's been at Spelman with her daughter, oh yeah.
Speaker 1:She was at the probate yeah.
Speaker 2:She's singing probate stuff, but I mean, we haven't seen her artistically.
Speaker 1:She started a clothing line this year and she's a movie. No, she's a movie. She's a film. Oh, she is OK, we're having a strike.
Speaker 2:They had photos of her shooting a film in Europe. Oh, ok yeah, she had on like a white. She's playing. It's a Like salt again. No, no, it's like a biography, ok yeah.
Speaker 1:So, if we're going to replace and put a black man on the spot for Mr Smith and we think of Brad Pitt who are you going to put down? Because I just Mahershala, mahershala.
Speaker 3:Mahershala.
Speaker 1:Mahershala, mahershala, I would also say Sterling.
Speaker 2:K Brown. Julia Roberts throwing herself at her own. Lisa Sterling K.
Speaker 1:Brown, I think Mahershala and your girl from Creed, oh.
Speaker 3:Tessa and Tessa, tessa will be Like them. As a Mr and Mrs Smith, I would like to see her do something like that.
Speaker 1:Nice. Like you know, I like Tessa. Yes, yeah, yeah yeah, yeah, the costume, no, no, yeah yeah, the man.
Speaker 2:Yeah yeah, who's the man? Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1:Yes, you, you were like a real ethnic looking.
Speaker 3:Yeah, the one that played on. He sings the track. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What's the what's?
Speaker 1:the superhero show that was on HBO with from Oakland, tulsa. What's the show?
Speaker 3:Hmm, oh that was a watch man. He was on Watchman he was the blue. He did Watchman. I love that show.
Speaker 1:I had so many problems with Watchman.
Speaker 2:There were definitely some things. I did not like. That scene, yeah, I didn't like that. I didn't love that. I was bad about that. I didn't like any of it.
Speaker 3:I didn't see how it coincided. I didn't like that storyline with the hooded man.
Speaker 1:What the fuck was that about?
Speaker 3:Oh, the black guard.
Speaker 2:It was one of them. Moments on Empire 2, where it just came from nowhere. It was the two, then see you watch Empire.
Speaker 1:The first season. I think it was problematic from the start, when they had him be lynched up by his co-workers and then he got down and saved that white woman with the news around his neck, I was like what the fuck is this?
Speaker 3:Why are we watching? What do we? It is a wild show. What is the commentary? You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1:I think it was like I'll tell you a butler. I think it was like Black Saffa.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 1:But it just was like, first of all, two stories that totally independent of each other, that didn't really. It took too long for them to get together, we're in an emergency together, you know what I'm saying, like for them to have something.
Speaker 2:How many seasons was it? It was just one. It was just one season.
Speaker 1:But they said it cost too much money to make.
Speaker 3:But they did very well.
Speaker 1:I hated that show.
Speaker 3:There was a lot of backlash.
Speaker 1:I'm hopeful that it'll get picked back up by another network or something.
Speaker 3:Regina Kandit Fantastic job she was the shit.
Speaker 1:She's a shout out to Regina.
Speaker 3:She can do the wrong. She's a fucking great actress.
Speaker 1:That's Angelina Jolie a confession. When we were talking about like that, they were married.
Speaker 3:I got a thing for Billy Bob Thornton and see, and this is why we couldn't show you that, billy Bob Thornton, billy Bob Thornton is kind of fine, lowkey, he's kind of fine.
Speaker 1:Santa, yes, but not when he was bad at Santa.
Speaker 3:I mean, he's kind of fine Even after he still looked like what he looks like a yeah. I can't say what I want to say.
Speaker 1:You liked him at Monster's Ball. Ooh, no chance, billy Bob Thornton.
Speaker 2:I just like him. You like him, he does yes, but you like that.
Speaker 1:No, if he's not really that Like if he smells good and his hair is like clean, but he's never giving you that impression.
Speaker 2:Yes, he doesn't look like you.
Speaker 1:And what movie has he been? Because he was drinking her blood. Remember. They had each other's blood around their neck and little bottle.
Speaker 3:Oh yeah.
Speaker 1:They were wild, they were in the bath In the bath. Let's not speak of this.
Speaker 3:Oh, that's not the fucking thing doing on that. No, no, no, no, let's not talk about this. Oh my God, I already talked.
Speaker 2:I remember that one. I don't want to watch this shit. That shit was wild.
Speaker 1:Let's not talk about it I don't want to watch it and thank you guys for joining us at Wee. We should end on that note. Yeah, but Billy Bob, if you out there, we talked about it.
Speaker 2:What are you going to say? Billy Bob, you have to look. What are you going to say to it? You going to shoot your shot, Shoot your shot.
Speaker 1:Chris, she don't mean it. He's probably not like you. Now I'm with Christine. I left him for Billy Bob.
Speaker 2:He would definitely think it was for the money I mean no, I did it, I'm for the money. Now he knows for the love, I ain't for the money, because Kalise stated oh boy.
Speaker 1:So going back to this is a real ADHD moment, Because I feel like we got four tabs open. But going back to Golden Globes, I was going to say I want to see Jody and I want to see Lupita and I want to see Pacey.
Speaker 3:Oh shit.
Speaker 1:You messy as fuck I want to see. Both of them are fashion girls who like.
Speaker 3:So I want to see Lupita and Jody Smith. Jody is better than me, no, lupita and Jody.
Speaker 1:Jody hit me. His husband are now supposedly a thing.
Speaker 3:Because, he got a tight.
Speaker 2:That's my tight.
Speaker 3:That's my tight. Come on, let's chocolate girls. You don't want to see that. I want to see how messy she hit you, jody going to come out there.
Speaker 2:They're going to lose the ring. I want to see that you know they have a child.
Speaker 1:I didn't know they had a kid. They were married.
Speaker 2:I know, but I didn't know that they had it. They were a thing together longer. You don't remember her pregnant Jody.
Speaker 1:Yeah, oh, yeah they got to shoot Quentin and Slim right before they Quentin and Slim Her baby is like maybe like four or something like that, no, ok, so she hit. She's been hit, baby Mm-hmm.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I didn't want to see it.
Speaker 1:I don't want to see these black queens fighting over this. They don't have to fight, they just should get very well dressed up and one of them show up with you. Yeah, man, they want to see the competition, though it ain't going to be nothing, Because Jody going to step on their neck no over Lupita.
Speaker 2:I think so when it comes to fashion absolutely.
Speaker 3:They're most beautiful women, but Jody is going to see Jody Jody, jody Jody. She's going to lay her hands out.
Speaker 1:Lupita walks, so Jody could run, or how would I. Yes, because.
Speaker 3:Jody Lupita has been around longer than Jody, but she was never the fashion. I never thought she was that stylish.
Speaker 1:She's so lateicin' not in Olapita, she ain't that much longer in the thing.
Speaker 2:But what I'm saying is Is she?
Speaker 1:lateicin'.
Speaker 3:No, I was, I was, I was, I was I was I was you said if we're going to, say she opened the door. You could say me. Only we could have said something a little closer generationally.
Speaker 1:She said but that's like two, three years, she said, miss Jane.
Speaker 3:Pittman to Jody. She said ah what?
Speaker 1:But now what I'm saying is, lupita's career was out before Jody, but that doesn't mean their careers are totally different.
Speaker 3:She's not a fashion girl to me, she's not a fashion girl to me, lupita, they try to make her a fashion girl. They didn't have to.
Speaker 1:She's super safe. It's really cute, it's pretty yeah. Jody's stepping on next for everybody, not just Lupita, everybody. Yeah yeah, let me see she took a moment we knew who he was.
Speaker 2:I didn't know, and I'm letting the listeners know who it is.
Speaker 1:But I think he's an attractive man he is. He looks like Denzel. He looks like Denzel. Can anybody clap for me for a second?
Speaker 2:Yes, you can't say shit. No, y'all are Billy Bob. It's a kind of a toss up what I mean and that will wrap up today.
Speaker 1:All right, so we done for it. It's a great time.
Speaker 2:Every time she says something I be like is we?
Speaker 1:done. I'm the United Nations of Love. I can appreciate all. One thing I've learned being in this industry is keep it over there. I don't take these fantasies into the streets at all. On the book, in real life, I'm probably like that ain't it, but you know and that magazine cover.
Speaker 2:You nice to look at.
Speaker 1:Look great, you know. I don't need to see it in person. Oh, I do, I'd like to see something.
Speaker 3:You're not a methamphetamine person in person.
Speaker 1:Did you not think he was handsome and perfect person before?
Speaker 3:I'm just saying like Food, methamphetamine, he fine, oh, somebody that you met in person, that you thought was as handsome as they are in print Dave, dave East. What is a famous for? He's a rapper, what song From New York?
Speaker 2:Name a song If you're like a pen and all.
Speaker 1:I don't have a song for you, but he played methamphetamine on Wu Tang.
Speaker 3:That is a beautiful man.
Speaker 1:I just want to say you don't like Dave. No, and as I'm scrolling, through.
Speaker 3:We're not surprised, we don't care His patty bearded pictures.
Speaker 1:We don't care. John Stamos popped up, and that's what caught my eye. I think John Stamos has always been fine.
Speaker 3:Make it. Tell me he ain't never thought Come on, let's go From 4F and on that note I think we good this has been another episode. We ain't popped that shit. Call us John Stamos, you fine, no.
Speaker 1:Put up John Stamos pictures, if we want to say 8 or 8. 8. 8 what.
Speaker 3:You need to eat something so that beard can come in a little bit better. That beard, no, it's not. No, that's.
Speaker 1:Beijing. Go back to the other 99 pictures that thing looked like a bunch of spiders having a mitten. Look at this man.
Speaker 2:They like. He looks like Chris.
